Giusy Lauriola

Italy, Rome

I have been working on the female figure since 2017, trying to leave the contact with reality in orfer to find in the stretch what refers to my research: the image that coincides with an inner vision that I see confused in the distance, but whose emotion I know perfectly. I am currently working in a timeless communication between a woman and a child and a woman and her double:  a life story and that hidden side which can come out only on the canvas. I try to create fragile and strong figures with a style that from figurative is becoming abstract expressionism. It is my way of expressing the female  and human condition.

Why do you create artwork? Because it is an inner need sometimes even physical. I can't help it

What do you like most about creating artwork? That magical connection between the mind and the hand, that playing with colors and never knowing fully what will happen on the canvas, that infinite search for something that can always improve until the end of my days. Knowing that a wall of inner visions is traveling around the world in someone's house witnessing my feelings

What is your goal? To see on the canvas the image that coincides with an inner vision that I see confused in the distance, but whose emotion I know perfectly.

We will win

I made this artwork at the beginning of the closing of Rome for the Covid 19 and my feeling was that together we will win, For the first time I was using japanese ink. The yellow color on the eyes represents the inner ability to see beyond.
